Lingerie Care Guide
Proper care keeps your lingerie beautiful, comfortable, and long-lasting. Follow these expert tips to protect your investment.
Why Proper Lingerie Care Matters
Quality lingerie is an investment in your comfort and confidence. Unlike regular clothing, intimate apparel uses delicate fabrics and construction techniques that require special attention. With proper care, your lingerie will maintain its shape, softness, and color for much longer.
Quick Rule: When in doubt, hand wash cold, air dry flat. This works for virtually all lingerie types.
Washing Instructions by Fabric
πΏ Cotton & Cotton Blends
Cotton is the easiest lingerie fabric to care for and makes up many of our Classic collection pieces.
- Water: Cold to lukewarm water (max 30Β°C/86Β°F)
- Detergent: Mild, pH-neutral detergent β baby detergent works great
- Method: Machine wash on delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag, or hand wash
- Drying: Air dry flat or on a drying rack. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading
- Ironing: Low heat if needed, but usually not necessary
π Lace
Lace is beautiful but delicate. Our Premium collection features intricate lacework that deserves gentle treatment.
- Water: Cold water only
- Detergent: Gentle lingerie wash or mild soap β never bleach
- Method: Hand wash only. Gently swish β never twist, wring, or scrub
- Drying: Lay flat on a towel, reshape gently. Never hang lace β it stretches
- Storage: Fold carefully and store flat. Avoid snagging on hooks or zippers
β¨ Satin & Silk
Luxurious and smooth, silk and satin require the most careful treatment.
- Water: Cold water only
- Detergent: Silk-specific detergent or very mild soap
- Method: Hand wash only. Soak for 3-5 minutes, gently agitate, rinse in cold water
- Drying: Press water out gently with a towel (never wring). Air dry flat away from heat
- Ironing: Use lowest setting on reverse side with a cloth barrier. Steam is safer
πΈοΈ Mesh & Sheer
Mesh fabrics are lightweight and breathable but can tear easily.
- Water: Cold water
- Detergent: Gentle, fragrance-free detergent
- Method: Hand wash or machine wash in a mesh bag on the gentlest cycle
- Drying: Air dry flat. Mesh dries quickly
- Note: Keep away from Velcro, hooks, and rough surfaces
General Care Tips
π« What to Avoid
- Bleach: Destroys elastic fibers and damages delicate fabrics permanently
- Tumble drying: Heat breaks down elastic and causes shrinkage
- Hot water: Causes colors to bleed and fabrics to warp
- Fabric softener: Coats fibers and reduces elasticity over time
- Dry cleaning: Chemicals are too harsh for most lingerie
π¦ Storage Tips
- Store lingerie in a cool, dry drawer β not in plastic bags (moisture builds up)
- Keep bras unfolded or stack cups inside each other to maintain shape
- Use drawer dividers or sachets for organization and freshness
- Separate light and dark colors to prevent dye transfer
- Cedar balls or lavender sachets naturally repel moths
π How Often to Wash
- Panties: After every wear β no exceptions
- Bras: Every 2-3 wears, unless you sweat heavily
- Special occasion pieces: After each wear, hand wash immediately
Making Your Lingerie Last Longer
Rotate your lingerie collection! Wearing the same pieces daily causes faster wear. Having a good rotation of 7-10 everyday pieces means each one gets less stress and lasts much longer. This is another great reason to stock up with our collections β bulk buying isn't just cheaper, it's smarter care!
Pro Tip: After hand washing, roll your lingerie in a clean towel and gently press to absorb excess water. This is gentler than wringing and helps pieces keep their shape.
